This is quite a good hidden object game. The story involves a young woman going back in time to remove objects that have wound up in the wrong places. Gameplay involves visiting the sites important to all sorts of historical figures, including Confucius, Ben Franklin, Amelia Earhart, and the Beatles. In each scene the player must find the pieces of important historical objects, and then replace them in their proper places (usually in a different time/place). The scenes are well-drawn, and the objects are well-hidden without being tiny/impossible to find. Gameplay is long on this game- there are many levels. Players do visit the same locations multiple times, but each time the scene is shown from a different angle, thus one is never searching exactly the same scene twice. I did find the ending of the game a bit disappointing, but it leaves the door wide open for a sequel. Overall I thought this game was well worth the money.

I mostly enjoyed this game and it is definitely a par above many other HOG’s. The same dozen famous figures from history got a bit tiresome after a while as you revisit them several times through out the game. The mini-games were more on the order of hand-eye coordination which is not one of my strengths but you can opt-out and take a 20 minute time penalty. Other mini-games were a bit too easy for my level. All in all, the graphics are nicely done, it is not to easy to find every object and having to go between three “rooms” to obtain every item made it a bit more interesting than the standard, run of the mill seek and find.
In any case, the history part of the game might be useful for middle schooler’s – at least they tried to make it a bit educational.
I haven’t gone back and played it with harder clues though I like that once a bit of time has passed, I can replay this game on a new level. That part certainly adds value.
The ending was a bit strange though…It is like a novel where the author did not really know how to close the story and just slapped “The End” on it and walked away. I guess it was meant to mean that future versions will be forthcoming.

I thought this game was ok. I found myself wanting to get to the end of it so I could play another one. I did like the Hidden Canvas game by the same company, but this one was just ok. Normally I play a game at least a second time, and I didn’t feel the need to do that with this one.

To me, Flux Family Secrets ranks amongst the better and more interesting in the endless parade of Hidden Object games. One of the reasons is that one not only has to find these hidden objects but also then uses them in different ways. Sometimes it is collecting the parts of a bicycle which then needs to be put together in order to get another required object. Other times the found object is used to be placed back into the scene to reveal another previously hidden object. That keeps things interesting.
There are also many puzzles that range from rather simple to more challenging: A helicopter model that needs to be landed slowly and precisely between burning candles; a row of pistons that operate at various speeds and must each be stopped at their highest point; a matching cards puzzle, i.e. a Memory game; puzzles reminiscent of the old “Mastermind” game, etc., etc. I dare say that there are puzzles for everyone in this game. One can also choose to skip a puzzle but that means taking a time penalty.
One other neat feature is that once the game is completed, the player is offered to basically start over with the objects placed in other spots. I would say there is a lot of fun game play there for the price.
I recommend this to anyone who dislikes the monotony of pure Hidden Object games. This one is way more fun.
