When you see this game in stores be sure to check out the backcover.. notice the blatant lack of info about the gameplay? It’s a movie. There is now a movie-game bad enough to compare to Heavy Rain, and it’s Final Fantasy XIII — this is an interactive movie.
The standard Final Fantasy “game” — Fight – Watch boring cutscene – Fight – Watch boring cutscene, over and over and over, on a never ending cycle of repeat… forever. All while on The Bayonetta system, where the game mocks and laughs at you during cutscenes “HAH YOU WISH YOU COULD DO THIS IN-GAME”
Lightning? Ha-ha female main-characters.. When will developers learn that Woman can’t do anything other than whip of Marella a good meal — stick to the Androgynous guy main-characters.
If there was an award for the “MOST BORING GAME”, Square-enix’s Final Fantasy XIII would win said award, and accept it with a 60 minute unskippable cutscene.
If you want to play a REAL game that includes RPGs play Bad Company 2.
Marella gives this game a SOLID 1 out of 5.

I’m really eager to play this game but I CAN’T! Why? Because Amazon.com is HORRIBLE WITH PRE-ORDERS. Even though this game releases on March 9th, they say that it won’t ship until MARCH 15TH, a full WEEK later. And they estimate my delivery date to be as late as March 26th. I’m never pre-ordering another videogame ever again on Amazon.com.

when episode 1 came out.
FF13 is an embarrassment. what was once the best written, mythic, engaging, atmospheric series in games, is now dumbed down to the extreme.
if they wanted to give us the game equivelent of ‘avatar’ all visuals and 6th grade writing , at least they could have made the graphics/experience better. The whole thing is clunky and awkward, characters arent in proportion to their environments, and move / bounce up and down awkwardly. the graphics are blocky. graphics wise, and battle wise, FF7 were somehow far better. while the technology is better, it isn’t implemented that well. The whole thing is a rush job, squaresoft needs to hire real writers, though to be fair the series has been taking a wrong turn every game since FF8, but it has gone so far off track we’ve fallen all the way to this dumbed down mess.

Just played through the first chapter, or rather I watched the first chapter. It was hard to tell even what was going on during battles because the screen was so busy. Story was not compelling at all. Characters were overly childish for a war situation. Battle was basically just mashing the same button over and over again. I’ve played nearly all Final Fantasy games and absolutely love them, but this one is by far the worst of them all. I mean it’s graphically intense and visually stunning, but just an awful game.

Beautiful Graphics, good voice acting, boring gameplay!
If your a heavy RPGer then by all means pick this game up. It is put together very well with a great story. Camera does annoy the hell out of me sometimes though.
But ohh emm effing gee am I tired of pressing (X). I know the heavy fan-base from this game will nerd rage all up on this one-star, but hey, you have to admit this game isn’t for everyone.
