The Easycrap device, the software disc and the instructions you can toss in the trash…doesn’t work. Keep the usb extension cable and take care of it, works like a charm. Pay $20 or whatever you’re paying for the video capture package and you will be paying $20 for a Dollar General quality usb extension cable no longer than about 2 feet in length. The only EASYCAP device is the usb extension cable, very easy to usb, no instuctions or software needed, no margin for error, just plug it in! Don’t waste $20 on a 2ft. long easycap usb extension cable. If you look around just a little harder I’m sure you could find one. Better yet if you ask someone nicely they would probably give you one! The absolute truth…this Easycrap does not work at all! It is not compatible with Windows XP even though my PC is three times the so called system requirements of the Easycrap software. You can try all day long to install the drivers for this Easycrap device whether it’s the software disc that comes with it or download it online, it absolutely will not install. You can forget about a refund from the crook that sold you the Easycrap, you won’t get it. You can also forget about things like updates, rolling back the driver, help, support and positive suggestions…there are none. I’ve been there and done that, now I’m warning you because I hate to see people waste their hard to earn money. I also sell products to people but only if it works. I would never be dishonest, selling people things that I know don’t work. I really don’t see how there could be more positive than negative customer reviews for this Easycrap device..they all should be negative with zero stars. I have been ripped off by buying two of these Easycrap devices. Nothing to do now but throw the Easycraps in the garbage where they belong and warn others. My suggestion, if you want a descent video capture device or one that just works just spend a little extra money.

With my Easy Cap, I record my Xbox 360 gameplay in HD to YouTube. This product is great, and is very inexpensive which is great. I know people with the Dazzle, and when I compared that quality to EasyCAP, my quality was way better than the Dazzle. You just have to use the right settings and it will look great with no lag, or choppy video. It also always has the audio in sync with the video. I have had few problems, which I solved within half an hour. Here is a tip; When recording with Ulead, make sure Ulead is the only program opened at the time to reduce the risk of having choppy videos. And use a frame rate of 6000. BUY EASYCAP IT’S GREAT!!!

Hello All:
I have a security DVR which gives me direct AVI extracts out of its USB port, but without audio. So my project was to find a way to video capture extracts from the DVR. I bought this EasyCap. Had to make several passes with the WinXP driver install routines until all of EasyCap’s drivers installed. Then I installed their video capture software. I was able to get sound but only got fuzz in the video display panel. Then tried Win XPs Movie Maker. Same thing albeit more frustrating. Movie Maker would lock up after each attempt. Next, I went out on a video capture software hunt and tried several other products which had trial downloads. No luck and I was almost at my wits end. My last stop happened to be nchsoftware, who offer the Debut video capture software. And the basic version is free.
Unbelieveably, after a little bit of fudging, the video feed from my dvr showed up in the Debut display on my pc. This amazing software lets you record in any of multiple formats: vcd, avi, mp4, etc. There are a couple of quirks, not so huge though. One is that in the ‘tools’ options to adjust the device I have to keep changing the video input format to NTSC_M each time I launch Debut. Culprit is EasyCap which keeps defaulting to PAL_B. Not sure why PAL_B was chosen as default while marketing to the US. Secondly, while recording I can see the green audio bar moving in the Debut display panel but cannot hear the audio.
After I ‘stop’ the recording session and replay the newly created file from ‘recordings’ on the menu I have both video and sound in the file.
Hope this information will help you too. Saved my day. And I recommend a robust donation to nch software for the free version of Debut. Alternately, buy the Debut Plus to support the company. They have a huge line of other video related products.
Hope this info helps you and good luck.

ok, well i was hoping to use this to play video games on my computer, so i just wanted the preview portion of it. well, the drivers dont work on the cd. and i tried looking all over the internet for the drivers for the program so it would show up in the dvd suite program it comes up with. eventually, i was able to get the video to work but couldnt get the audio to work. today, i was doing research on how to get that to work and you really have to mingle within the program data for the driver and stuff. even after that it didnt work. so i have officially given up. i really suggest on doing your research on a different product than this because its really complicated to get it to work and such. i have some knowledge about how a computer works and stuff, but the knowledge to figure out how this thing works is way beyond me. like i said before, do research for a different product that actually works. just because it is cheap doesnt make it the best product out there.

It does allow me to view TV on my computer, but if you try to record anything longer that 5 minutes it locks up. I wanted to use it to record hour long TV shows, but no go. I mean how hard can that be?

after having so much trouble with this product and giving up before trying again after a whole year passed as i was ready to throw it away; I finally got it working after reading ‘yours trulys’ comment and this post http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f25/easy-cap-dc60-doesnt-work-on-xp-217819.html
The key words that put me on the right track were ‘debut video capture’ and’composite video’ But i decided to put some clearer instructions on how i got mine working. Not all the steps may be necessary but this is EXACTLY what I did.
[Install]
Plug in the video capture usb device to your laptop.
Let windows install it automatically.
At some point it will as you to insert the installation cd… insert the cd and when it says ‘cant verify publisher’, click install anyway. At this point disconnect the device and let it finish installing.
Restart your computer
[Launch]
Open debut video capture (google search for the free version it if you don’t have it)
Go to ‘options’
Change the recording device to ‘syntek STK1150’
Click ‘device settings’
Under ‘video encoder’; Make sure video standard is ‘PAL_B’ (if you’re in the UK)
Under ‘image’; make sure ‘PAL_BDGHI’ is selected on the left hand side (if you’re in the UK) and change the option to ‘composite video’ on the right hand side (if you’re using the chord with the red, yellow and white tips)
Click OK
Your video should appear
